WOOD-FIRED POTTERY BY AMEDEO SALAMONI

Salamoni pottery is made twice a year in an Anagama kiln, a unique wood-firing process. The pieces are fired in the outdoor kiln for ten days and then removed. This kiln must be watched 24 hours a day.

In 1982, McCavitt Designs began. I am a surface designer by trade. In my work, I use any medium necessary to create the movement, color, and texture that I envision in my mind. My hand built clay pieces are made from fine red sculpture clay, buff clay, or porcelain. I use under glazes to create watercolor effects and decorative designs. For my mosaics, I use my own hand pressed and sculpted tiles plus glass pieces. My art work creates a visual dance between color, texture and form. -D. McCavitt
